Jam was commissioned to prepare a Sustainability Strategy for Harrington New Settlement, a proposed
exemplar sustainable development.  The proposals showcased the way forward for a climate resilient
community of c.6,500 homes and 9ha of employment land, including:

• Active travel + Mobility Strategy

• 20 minute Neighbourhoods

• Net Zero ready buildings

• Biodiversity Net Gain

• Clean Air Zone

• Business Innovation Park

• Community Stewardship Model.

The Sustainability Strategy was used to guide the proposals and the inter-relationship between the social, economic and environmental issues. The strategy also provided a robust evidence base to support the outline planning application, in particular the EIA, and provide key information for engagement with stakeholders, to demonstrate the necessary innovation and future proofing of proposals.
